    Provide the names and contact information of TWO professionals who are your references and who are familiar with your work. You must include their references with your application in the file attachment section below.

    Applicants must enclose with their completed application form a coherent, original essay of between 800 and 1000 words on the following topic:

    "Why do you feel it is important to study Latin and Classics in the 21st Century – why are you studying in the field, and why do you personally believe it is important to continue to learn about the Classical world today?"

    Supporting Documents

    University applicants:

    Please have an official transcript of all courses taken to date sent by your university along with official confirmation of the Classics programme (e.g., from the registrar, dean, etc.) in which you are currently enrolled as of November 1st, 2020;

    University applicants in your first year:

    Please have an official high school transcript sent along with an official letter from your university (e.g., from the registrar, dean, etc.) outlining the courses you are currently enrolled in as of November 1st, 2020 and indicating the Classics programme in which you are currently enrolled;

    Secondary school applicants:

    Please have a certified transcript of your high school academic record, a Credit Summary Sheet, and a statement outlining your current course enrollment (as of November 1st, 2020) signed by an official of your school mailed directly to the address provided.


    Please include supporting letters from TWO professionals who are references for you and are familiar with your work. At least one reference must be a teacher or professor of Latin / Classics. These are to be on official letterhead. Please submit ALL elements of your application together here through this site if you are applying online. Note to references: please individualize your letter so that it is specific to the candidate (this is particularly important if you are writing on behalf of more than one student.)
    Applicants should ask references to upload their reference letters directly using the "Teacher-Professor Reference Form" or e-mail them directly to identifying the reference with the applicant's name.
